Celebrating Our 30th Anniversary

DSC_0123.JPG

Our moving-up and graduation ceremonies were held at Talisay's South Town Center on the 15th of April 2026. The 44 children who participated in the moving-up ceremony did their parents proud with some delightful dance routines led by their teachers. These were interspersed with the presentation of academic and special awards to each pupil. The event concluded with all the children singing the moving-up song. We hope to welcome them back in the next school year beginning in June.

After the moving-up event, we held the graduation ceremony for our 36 children (22 boys/14 girls) who are leaving us to start grade school in June. This is a bittersweet event for the teachers as this is the day they will be saying goodbye to the pupils who have touched their lives over the past year.

Our teachers were asked to write something about any specific poignant memories of the day and we are pleased to present their write-ups (and some photos) in the section below:

One of the highlights of the moving-up ceremony was the dance presentation of the special education pupils. One core memory was seeing Gohan and Briggs dance to the music with enthusiasm and minimal prompting from their parents. From being pupils a year ago who did not wish to participate in extra curricular activities, now I can see their improvement and eagerness to try and learn new things.

Another memorable moment was seeing the parents' proud faces when they went up on stage together with their child to receive their award. Some parents came up to me afterwards and expressed their gratitude for the progress they had seen in their child.

This moving-up ceremony served as a powerful reminder that success in special education is not measured by speed, but by progress. It celebrated not only what the pupils had achieved, but who they are becoming in the future. These confident, capable, and resilient children are ready to continue their journey of growth.

I was amazed and deeply moved while watching my Nursery pupils performing their dance presentation. Most of them had approached the stage with confidence. Although they weren't exactly dancing in unity, they still showed a remarkable improvement from when they had performed at the Christmas party. AJ, Addison, and Jesus in particular had been hesitant and lacking in confidence in the past to perform in front of a large audience. It was truly heartwarming to witness their growth and to see their parents showing expressions of joy and pride.

The Graduation Ceremony was also a great success. I felt a sense of pride, albeit tinged with sadness, seeing my former Junior Preparatory pupils on the stage when they received their certificates of completion. One of these pupils was Chrisler who was this year's valedictorian and he gave a speech which he had learned by heart to express gratitude to his teachers, friends and parents.

Towards the cIose, Chrisler's mother also gave a speech. She had been asked to speak because her son had been with us ever since he was 2 years old. I was especially touched by her heartfelt message. I had never known that Chrisler had had speech delay when he first joined our school. The consistent support, guidance, and love given to him had clearly made a huge difference, as he graduated with High Honors. His story is truly inspiring and reflects the importance of strong support from both family and school.

Lastly, I should like to mention the Loyalty Award. This is given to all the graduating pupils who have been with us in the school since the nursery level. When I invited the parents to join their children on the stage to receive their Loyalty award, one parent in particular expressed suprise and delight. The mother of Ariannah has a long history with the school as all of her three children are LLC graduates. Ariannah is the youngest so today marked the end of the family's association with our school.

Teacher Jay Nalaza

Senior Preparatory Adviser

As a teacher, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride for my Junior Preparatory 2 students. I have personally witnessed how much they have grown and matured compared to when we first started the school year. Before, many of them were shy, hesitant, and lacked confidence, especially when asked to perform in front of others. However, during the ceremony, I saw a completely different side to them. They danced with confidence, and were no longer shy to show their talents. Seeing this transformation was truly heartwarming, as it reflected not only their personal growth but also the supportive environment we have built together in the classroom.

One of the highlights of the event for me was the heartfelt speech of the mother of Chrisler from the Senior Preparatory Level. She shared the journey of her child, particularly the challenges he had faced due to a Developmental Language Disorder. Listening to her story was deeply touching, as it revealed the struggles, patience, and determination that both she and his child had gone through. It reminded everyone that success is not always easy and that behind every achievement is a story of resilience and unwavering support.

Her speech moved many in the audience and served as an inspiration to all of us. It made me realize the importance of understanding each learner’s unique needs and the role of teachers and parents in guiding them toward success. Chrisler’s story is a powerful example that with the right support, encouragement, and belief, every child can overcome difficulties and succeed.

Overall, the ceremony was not just a celebration of academic achievement but also a meaningful reminder of the value of perseverance, compassion, and inclusivity in education. It left a lasting impact on me and strengthened my commitment to becoming a more supportive and understanding educator.

I think what I remember most about the moving-up ceremony is how Jamir would often come up to hug me. I did not mind at all as I was so happy seeing him participate in the dance routine like he had never done before in practice. After the event, his mother approached me to express her gratitude to me for being patient in taking care of her child during classes.

At the end of the event, pupils and parents expressed their joy and we took photos.
